Golden, Yet Concise 2
In the Name of Allah, the Entirely
Merciful and the Especially Merciful.
The Best of Praises belong to Allah
and we ask Him to send His Salutations upon the Noble Prophet.
Alhamdu-liLlah we have been blessed with
another opportunity to drink from the cup of Shaykh al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah’s
knowledge. Knowledge which was bestowed upon to make him one of the beacons
that we look at in times of darkness. May Allah have mercy on him. In our previous
post we talked about the hadith in which the Prophet SAW advised Muadh bin
Jabal and all of us that we should fear Allah wherever we are by doing what He
has commanded us and stay away from what He has forbidden. But as humans, just
like Allah created us, we are bound to err and thus the Messenger SAW continued
by saying that we should immediately follow up our evil with good for they will
wipe them off and in our relations with others, we should treat them with the
best of character.
Servants of Allah, as we try to obey
Allah and stay away from His Prohibitions, there are times in which we shall
fall into temptation and commit sins. For the devil, may Allah’s curses be upon
him and with him, had promised even before our births to barrage us with
temptations and cajoling from all angles and dimensions. These sins would
definitely have impacts on us in this world and the hereafter. Allah out of His
Profound Mercy, mercy that has no bounds, then established for us affairs,
deeds and activities that will clean away our sins to the extent that Allah SWA
changes the sins of a believer to good deeds. Allahu Akbar.
The scholars have enumerated that
which removes and clears the aftermath of sins into ten different categories.
Four out of these ten shall be extensively discussed in our series of posts. In
shaa Allah, whoever follows them with keenness and participation shall reap
their benefits in this world and in the hereafter and your life shall be filled
with a new breath and your contentment shall take on a new stride. May Allah
guide us, Aameen.
These four affairs are: Tawbah (Repentance), Istighfaar (seeking
forgiveness) without repentance, Good deeds and Trials or Tribulations that
afflict the Servant.
In shaa Allah we shall begin with
Tawbah. Before we delve into the nooks and crannies of this topic, I would like
to remind myself and my readers, may Allah have mercy on us, about Allah SWA’s
statement in Surah az-Zumar verse 53 in which He said, “Say, ‘O My servants who
have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the Mercy
of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the
Forgiving, the Merciful.’”
Servants of Allah, irrespective of
the sin you have committed, you should never lose hope or lose faith in the
Mercy of Allah. Allah forgives all sins. Allah is Greater than that sin you
have committed. If you turn to Allah, Allah will also turn to you and better
and more befitting manner.
For ones Tawbah to be complete and
accepted, certain conditions must be fulfilled. If anyone of these conditions
are omitted then the Tawbah of a person is not complete.
The conditions are:
- · Sincerity
- · Cutting off or staying away from the sin
- · Having regret upon the sin committed
- · Having a firm conviction of not returning to the sin again
- · Making the repentance in its stipulated time.
Alhamdu-liLlah we shall end here.
May Allah forgive us for our short comings and accept our good deeds. May He
make our deeds solely for His sake. May He help us to abstain from disobeying
Him. May He grant the unmarried ones righteous spouses and the married ones
blissful marriages.
May the Salutations and Peace of
Allah be upon our Noble Prophet SAW.
As-Salamu
