Golden, Yet Concise - Effects of Kaffarah
In the Name
of Allah, the most Gracious and the most Merciful
The best of
Praises and Thanks belongs to Allah, the Lord of all that has been created, all
that is being created, all that will created and all that was not created were
they to be created. He is the Most Merciful and His Mercy encompasses all. I testify
that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad SAW is
His servant and Messenger. May the Salutations, Peace and Blessings of Allah be
upon the Messenger SAW, his household, his companions and the entire ummah
until the day when there shall be no shade except the shade of the Owner of the
Throne.
Alhamdu-liLlah,
we have been blessed with another opportunity to learn from the scholars that Allah has blessed this ummah with. Righteous scholars who have dedicated
their lives to the authentic teachings of the Prophet SAW. Amongst these righteous
scholars are Shaykh al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah and Shaykh Sulayman ar-Ruhaylee, may Allah have
mercy on and protect them respectively. Indeed, their (all righteous scholars of the sunnah) virtue is a very high one
and their influence is very great. The virtue of a scholar as compared to that of a
worshipper is like the virtue of the Prophet over the least of his companions, as
narrated from the Prophet SAW. Thus, servants of Allah, let us pray for for our
scholars. When we do that, we are doing ourselves good. This is because, even
without our prayers, the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth will pray for
them to the extent of an ant in its hole and the fish in the sea. I will use
this opportunity to advise myself and my fellow siblings in Islam, especially
those who make it a habit to revile and hit upon the weak points of righteous
scholars of the sunnah, “Do not let the animals become better you. If they are
praying for the scholars, why then are you reviling them. You who have been
granted intellect.”
In shaa
Allah, we shall look at the effects of Expiations(kaffarrah) in today’s
session. Allah SWA out of His Immense Mercy granted us a way out of His wrath. A
way out whenever we committed sins. And that is through good deeds that wipe off
these sins we commit. As mentioned in our previous post, there are restricted
expiations and unrestricted expiations. We want to, now, look at the some of
the effects of these expiations. One of the effects of expiations is that they serve
as deterrent before the sin. If a servant knows that when he has sexual intercourse
during the day in the month of Ramadhan, he shall follow it up with a great expiation
(i.e. fasting for two consecutive months…), he will definitely stay away from that
sin.
It is obvious,
servants of Allah, that when a person is fasting and is then prohibited from engaging
in sexual intercourse, that is the time that he becomes more tempted to engage
in such an act until he becomes weak. You will come across a man who will be
with his wife the entire night in the month of Ramadhan and he will not go
close to her but when he is fasting during the day, Shaytan will tempt him into
such an act and he will fall into it. There was a seventy-year-old man who said
to Shaykh Sulayman, “O Shaykh, by Allah, it has been 10 years and I have not
had any sexual relation with my wife. In this year’s Ramadhan, whiles I was
fasting, I fell into the act. Thus, Iblis is very eager to make man fall into
this act and that is why there is a very stringent expiation for it to prevent
us from falling into this kind of weakness. May Allah protect us.
In shaa Allah
we shall look at the second effect of expiations in our next session. May Allah
forgive us our sins and guide us into Jannah. May He protect our scholars, may
He have Mercy on our parents. May Allah bless our brother Muhammad Amin who has
helped a lot in this jihad. May Allah grant him a pious spouse and all of us.
