Golden, Yet Concise 1

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful.

The best Praises and Thanks belong to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. Praises that are most superior to other praises like the Superiority of Allah over His creatures. I bear witness that no deity deserves to be worshipped except Allah and that Muhammad SAW is His servant and Messenger. May the Salutations and Peace of Allah be upon him, his household, his companions and the entire Ummah till the day when there shall be no shade except the shade of the Most Merciful.

Alhamdu-liLlah, in this post we shall commence a series of posts shall be “Highlights of ibn Taymiyyah’s Concise Admonition”. These Post shall pick some points from Shaykh al-Islam, Ibn Taymiyyah’s book which was an admonishment he gave when he was asked concerning that which will be of benefit to one’s religious and worldly affairs. In shaa Allah, whoever follows and pays attention to these series of posts shall never regret and instead be reminded of and also gain beneficial information that shall serve as Concise Admonitions that will help improve on certain aspects of our lives as Muslims. These Posts again shall be made short in order for the reader to comprehend and also assimilate whatever he reads here easily. We Pray to Allah to purify our intentions, forgive us our sins and accept our acts of worship. Aameen.

We shall begin by taking a hadith which was narrated on the authority of Muadh bin Jabal RA and also Jundub bin Junaadah RA. Talking specifically about Muadh in relation to this hadith, the Prophet SAW gave him this advice just when he SAW was about to send Muadh to go and propagate the message of Allah in Yemen. He SAW said to Muadh, “O Muadh, Fear Allah wherever you are and follow up your sins with good deeds so they will wipe them and treat mankind with the best of characters.”

The main lesson from among the numerous lessons we can get from this hadith is that as Muslim we need to do that which Allah has commanded us to do and also stay away from that which He has Forbidden for us. And that is the meaning of the statement, “Fear Allah wherever you are.” We should again be eager, whenever we slip or fall short by disobeying Allah, to erase the traces of our mistakes and sins and that is the meaning of, “and follow up your sins with good deeds so they will wipe them off”. Again, we should ensure that in our interactions and dealings with other people we exhibit the best of Morality or characters. That is the meaning of “and treat mankind with the best of deeds.” It is undisputable that whoever lives his life according to these principles shall indeed have a content heart, and peaceful soul and he shall remain comfortable on the righteous path.

This hadith is very important and also beneficial to the Muslim because it is one of the last advices of the Messenger SAW. This hadith was also given to Muadh bin Jabal. If there was someone who would have had no need of this hadith then that person would have been Muadh yet the Prophet SAW gave him this advice. This shows how important this admonishment is. It has been reported from the Prophet SAW that Muadh RA is the leader of the Scholars of this Ummah and on the day of Qiyamah, he RA shall be resurrected leading all the Scholars of the Ummah of Muhammad SAW. If someone with such a high status in this world and the hereafter was in need of this hadith how much more you and I. May Allah make us among the fortunate ones on the day of Qiyamah.

Alhamdu-liLlah. We shall bring down the curtains on the first episode of our series. I urge my dear brothers and sisters to patronize the subsequent ones. Not only shall they informative but also exciting. May Allah guide you and me.

As-Salamu Alaykum WA Rahmatu-Llah Wa Barakatuhu
